Cara Install Android KitKat 4.4 di Xperia Mini dan Xperia 2011 Lainnya - Setelah sekian lama versi Android terbaru ditunggu-tunggu, akhirnya pada tanggal 31 Oktober tahun lalu seri Android 4.4 yang diberi nama KitKat resmi diperkenalkan. Kala itu hanya ada satu perangkat Android yang bisa menilik kelezatannya yaitu Nexus 5.

Nama KitKat diambil dari hasil voting para pembuat Android. Dari kabar yang berhembus sekian lama bahwa nama seri Android yang akan dipakai setelah Jelly Bean yakni Key Lime Pie ternyata salah. KitKat merupakan camilan sehari-hari para developer Android. Setelah dikaji ulang bahwa mereka tidak setuju memakai Key Lime Pie karena namanya yang begitu asing dan rasanya tidak terlalu menggugah selera, alhasil KitKat yang merupakan coklat batang buatan Nestle itu lah yang akhirnya dijadikan nama Android v4.4 terbaru.

Walaupun firmware official KitKat 4.4 masih sangat terbatas, anda tidak usah ragu karena hampir semua smartphone Android menengah-kebawah kini sudah mendapatkan jatah custom ROM KitKat. Siapa lagi kalau bukan berkat kerja keras dari CyanogenMod yang merupakan distributor custom ROM terbesar ini.

Bagi anda pengguna Xperia Mini dan sekelasnya (Xperia 2011) ada sebuah custom ROM KitKat yang diberi nama Honamify. ROM ini perkembangannya cukup baik. Fitur-fitur yang ditawarkan juga menarik (khas Xperia). Disamping ROM ini merupakan ROM yang selalu di update setiap saat, sayangnya Honamify masih bersifat BETA. Jangan heran bila banyak bug yang muncul setelah anda memakai custom ROM yang satu ini, entah Wifi nya masih error, Bluetooth belum menyala, Camera sering force close, dan lain sebagainya.

Untuk dapat menginstall custom ROM Honamify - CM11 Android KitKat 4.4 di Xperia Mini dan Xperia 2011 lainnya (Xperia Mini Pro, Xperia Active, Xperia Live with Walkman), sebelumnya pastikan bahwa Xperia anda sudah menggunakan stock ICS Official dan sudah Unlock Bootloader. Jika sudah, ikuti steps dibawah ini.

1. Download custom ROM Honamify dari link berikut (ada dua part) serta dev files nya (khusus selain Xperia LWW) kemudian copy ke SDCard anda, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2602727
2. Download kernel dari link berikut sesuai jenis smartphone anda kemudian flash memakai Flashtool, http://legacyxperia.basketbuild.com/index.php?dir=main/cm11.0/ *Jika link kosong kemungkinan website masih dalam tahap perbaikan
3. Masuk ke Recovery Mode
4. Pilih wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition dan juga wipe dalvik cache (pada menu advanced) menggunakan kedua tombol volume dan tombol home untuk OK
5. Pilih install zip from SDCard, arahkan ke part 1 kemudian install dan lanjutkan ke part 2 dan juga dev files nya
6. Pilih Reboot now

Selesai. Jika anda melakukannya dengan benar, maka dalam waktu kurang dari 5 menit Xperia anda akan menyala dengan normal dan sudah berubah menjadi Android KitKat 4.4.

Nokia Windows Phone 7 to be launched on August 17 2011

GSM Arena that they received an invitation for a Microsoft-Nokia event to be held on August 7, 2011 in Cologne, Germany. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out what the event will be for. The Nokia Windows Phone 7 device is almost here. Details of the Nokia Windows Phone 7 handset, code named "Sea Ray" have been floating around the entire month of July. 

What should we expect? I do not expect it to be lesser than Nokias Meego powered N9, so we should expect a 4-inch or so 800 x 480 AMOLED display,  1GB of RAM, at least 16GB of internal storage and an  8 MP auto focus camera with Carl Zeiss optics and a dual LED flash... basically, a pretty good phone, but what is probably the subject of most of the speculation is the processor. Forbes, reported awhile back that it will be sporting a dual core processor from ST-Ericsson, a joint venture between Geneva-based STMicroelectronics and Swedish telecom equipment and services supplier Ericsson.

Even with the new notification system and cloud services, Apple iOS is starting to feel old. An app launcher for a user interface is not something I have ever been interested in. My old Symbian and Windows Mobile devices had more informative home screens. I love my HTC Android with its HTC Sense UI, but rather than one integrated device, it still does feel a bit like a hodgepodge of applications like my personal computer. Windows Phone 7 feels like a powerful phone, rather than a computer OS transplanted to a mobile device. 

Windows apps are over 25,000 in number, Mango is here and now Nokia is joining the party. Has Windows Phone 7 day arrived?

Did I mention I am a big Halo fan?

August 4, 2011 update: No Mango-flavored smartphones are to be unveiled at the Nokia Microsoft party. Oh well...
