Is the Tablet the next Netbook

It has been a year and a half since Apple launched its successful iPad. If you read technology sites all around the world, it would seem that the tablet will kill the personal computer. 

iPad make excellent gaming platforms among other things.

I got a tablet in January 2011 and quickly passed it off to my wife. It has been less useful than it looked. Basically, I am sticking to the laptop and smartphone combination from now on, and will sit on the sidelines watching the tablet market with interest.

In one year and one quarter since its launch, as of June 2011, 28.7 million iPads have been sold. Android tablets, sales are estimated at less than 3 million since their release.

In one quarter, Gartner reports that almost 92 million personal computers, not including tablets, have been sold. That is in just one quarter versus five quarters of tablet sales. Could the tablet be the next netbook? Something to tide us over in though economic times?

Tablets share a lot with netbooks. Like the netbook they are cheap and portable. Like the netbook they are of limited use. Overall, while tablets are more functional than netbooks, most of what you can do in a tablet, you can do on a smartphone. Android tablets have a higher mountain to climb. The latest generation of smartphones are really now mini-tablets.

Lenovo tries to define a role for its tablet.

Is the tablet the next netbook? Or are we entering the era of keyboard less computing.  I think, tablet will fail as a productivity device, but makes a excellent multimedia and gaming platform. Basically, I do not see it going away, neither do I see it growing as much as predictive by experts. This one is too hard to call.  Would love to hear you chime in.

Update: We got some new data on tablet sales from Digitimes for the third Quarter of 2011. So are the figures from both Gartner and Digitimes for comparison -

Desktop and laptops - 92 million.
Tablets - 18.9 million (13 million Apple iPads and 5.9 million tablets of other brands)

Patrick is the most eccentric lawyer of the country!

ZOERSEL - He met the walking cliche image of the average lawyer. Blue-gray suit, hair neatly ironed backwards, expensive car. Ten years ago he threw that haunting mask of himself. "I wanted no place left to hide. With mohawk, piercings and tattoos Im finally myself, "says Patrick Baert Brys (54).

With its distinct style, black leather pants and yellow legerbottines would expect Patrick Baert Brys strikes. Especially in combination with its stately, black gown. "In the beginning they thought I was sick. Now they have long been common. (Smiles) But opinions remain divided, of course. For one, the. For others, our profession requires neutrality. It is their right to find it, but neutral impression is not determined by a two-piece suit. However, by the effort you every day makes. " 

Relationship on the rocks 

Patrick was once different, he thought differently. "Twenty years ago I fitted perfectly into the picture. My body was not decorated. I had short hair, wore a classic suit and came with a thick Saab to court. Well used, but knew no cat. When my relationship broke up, I went through a deep valley. I had to get out there and operated a café in one year. I had big wings on my back tattoo. An erotic scene on my shoulder. Finally I could show my piercings. A true liberation. But while I got lessons in humility. Around our profession is an aura of aloofness, but ultimately we are only a lawyer. " 

But Patrick knew that he could never really wean the legal profession. "I missed it. But for me that meant returning to the podium so long that I had stepped up to stop. Ten years ago I once again step into my trusty ivory tower. " 

With trembling knees, though. "Its the hardest thing I ever did. Harder than play for my homosexual orientation. Imagine: a classic, stiff portly man to a straight punk, in just one year. With mohawk, piercings, chains and a polar bear striking claw around the neck. Yes, their mouths fell open. And the president wanted me - understandably - to-face talk. Because it is lived. " 

Gossip behind 

Colleagues learned to live with them. Even his customers see no problem in its more distinct appearance. "My clientele consists of all kinds of people. They appreciate me for my expertise. Samsung Galaxy Ace Android 2 3 4 Gingerbread S5830BVJKP2 VIVO Brazil is online

An Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread version for Samsung Galaxy Ace for South America is out now!

This is a branded  FW from Vivo (Brazil Carrier). Some Devs suggested  that this ROM may also work on other carriers but just need to leave the CSC field blank.. and then you get an unbranded version by flashing it using ODIN.. The available languages of this Stock ROM FW are Brazilian, English, Spanish, Portuguese and Korean.

 Other than that you will be having difficulty on rooting your Samsung Galaxy Ace, but others find the methods of combining the  European version 2.3.4 gingerbread  S5830XXKP in order to ROOT the phone
after flashing. The good thing about this method will also fix the GPS problem  from american countries who upgraded and used the 2.3.4 XXKPH european firmware. see yoyigo07 thread here.
