Dual core Snapdragon S4 confirmed for Verizon Galaxy S III

Looks like people in the US willing to grab the upcoming Galaxy S III wont be treated to its quad-core Exynos variant. Instead, latest evidence points to a dual-core Snapdragon S4 powering the Galaxy S III for Verizon.

This is further confirmed by early NenaMark2 benchmarks, which show a Galaxy S III (SCH-I535) with a 1.5GHz dual-core S4. The reason for this exchange of hardware is the LTE support, which the Exynos 4 Quad chipset doesnt offer.

However, the benchmark shows something interesting. The Adreno 225 GPU in the Snapdragon S4 beats the Mali-400MP in the Exynos Quad by a couple of frames. Now, this might be due to the pre-release software and/or some inconsistency in the NenaMark2 benchmark. Dont forget, that the Galaxy S III screen is capped at 60FPS, so results close to that point may not be perfectly accurate.

This is Samsung volume setting, worked for several people but sadly only worked 2 times for me and values keep resetting for me (doesnt mean for you, so give it a try) Also this is based on STOCK firmware.

B) the second thing you might to try is app called Volume+:

This app guarantees it higher the volume without the need of touching its default settings, BUT huge drawback it highers everything: Headset, speaker and Bluetooth EXCEPT HANDSET which is the most important

C) Lastly get GOOGLE VOICE app (create a GV account if you dont have one)

just by installing Google and logging on, every time you make a call, your calls get forwarded through Google voice and volume levels become acceptable in ALL HANDSET, HEADSET, SPEAKER, BLUETOOTH (just like phone should of have been) (this what i personally use fix my volume issues)

Nexus phone. When you look at a Google Nexus phone release, you have to look at in two ways. As a phone in itself, but also as a reference design for thing to come. In January 2010, the Google Nexus One set the standard for Android what would be considered a high-end Android phone. In December 2010, the Google Nexus S became a reference design for a mid-level Android phone.

To many, the Google Nexus S was a disappointing, but today, it seems is purpose is clear. The Google Nexus S serve as a baseline for what kind of phone could maximize Android 2.3, a.k.a Gingerbreads, capabilities, and now after almost a year, it serves as a baseline for what types of phones will can upgraded to Android 4.0. More on that in our Ice Cream Sandwich article. In the same way, the Google Nexus One, was upgraded to the software for the Google Nexus S.

In short, a Google Nexus design shows you what type of phone will be supported by the latest upgrade for at least 18 months, the period that Google is committing its designs the latest and the best. 

Google Galaxy Nexus. It does not seem that the keeping the phone specifications secret was all that important to Google. Even before the even started earlier today they handed out press kits with the following specifications listed:

We first saw this on Phandroid, half an our before the phone was officially announced. And, no these were not leaks.

The specifications were are expected except that we get a 1.2 GHz dual core processor instead of the 1.5 GHz processor mentioned in some "leaks". The camera is also a 5MP unit, instead of the rumored 8MP unit. The camera is probably the biggest disappointment. While higher megapixels do not guaranty better performance, from a marketing standpoint megapixels mean a lot. I would have crammed an 8MP camera there if I was in charge designing this unit. It is just easier to explain to consumers, that "more megapixels means better image quality".

Full screen 720p playback. No black line on the top and bottom for HD content.

LG and a Samsung phone announced for the  Korean in September 2011 new phones with 720p screens For the rest of the world, these 720p screens on a phone is new.  Every owner of a large Droid owner will probably envy the 4.65 inch 720 x 1280 Super AMOLED display, and suffer from Galaxy Nexus envy for awhile (when they finally buy their own 720p phone). Because of the display alone, this phone will not be a disappointment.

The Galaxy Nexus also has a barometer, although right now I do not know why. The star of the show really was not the Galaxy Nexus, but Android 4.0, a.k.a. Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Samsung Galaxy S III is already starting to appear up for pre-order for early buyers, but while on Amazon it costs a hefty $800, the new listing for the Galaxy S III on Expansys USA prices it at the much more affordable $694.99.

The handset sells unlocked and with no carrier ties, so that means you can freely use it anywhere in the world.  Also, placing the pre-order now wouldn’t charge your credit card and the website will still ask you if you really want to but the phone when it’s in stock. All of that comes with no cancellation charges, so for those of you wishing to be among the first to get the SGS III, this seems like a good option.

Of course, you can always wait for the carrier versions of the SGS III. After all, you’d probably still need to sign up a contact to get a relatively good deal on data. The price on contract will be much less, between $200 and $300.

How to take a screen shot on the Galaxy S2 with Ice Cream Sandwich

The first thing I noticed after I updated my Galaxy S2 to ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich), was that the same button press combo for taking a screen shot wasnt doing the trick anymore.

Luckily, a quick Google search taught me how to do it.

On Gingerbread, the shortcut was to hold the Home button (bottom middle of the phone) and then quickly hit the power button, but now, in ICS theyve changed it to be Volume Down + Home button + Power button, and you must press them at the same time. EDIT: ahh correction, just Volume Down + Power Button (stupid guy on youtube!)

I always wonder why developers would change stuff like that? I mean, the windows button on a keyboard still opens up the start menu, no matter if its Windows 95 or Windows 7.

Anyway, glad thats sorted, will keep you guys posted on the rest of my findings!

T-Mobile U.K. has announced its pricing plans for the Samsung Galaxy S III, many of which include the phone for free. Power users would most likely be interested in the 2-year "Full Monty" plan which includes unlimited texts, data and T-mobile to T-Mobile calls along with 2000 minutes of calls to other networks. That comes out to a price of  £49.99 up-front and a monthly charge of £36 ($79 USD and $57 USD respectively). Not bad considering that the Samsung Galaxy S III is free with the plan.

For those looking to keep their wallet or purse a little heavier, there are monthly plans as low as £10.50 per month that include the device, although they require a much larger upfront payment of £300 ($476 USD). You can also sign up for a plan that comes without an upfront payment. For £41 per month, which includes unlimited texts, data and calls, you can get a free Samsung Galaxy S III. All of the plans require you to sign a 2-year pact. If you live in the U.K., all of the major carriers there will be offering the Samsung Galaxy S III which means that if youre not enamored with T-Mobiles plans, perhaps another mobile operator has one that is right up your alley.

Smaller but still substantial screen, in exchange for the lighter weight seems to be worth it. It is 15% lighter than its bigger brother, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 25% lighter than the Apple iPad 2. 

Ultimately, 10-inch tablets are used on tables the same way we use netbooks and laptops. If used a tablet on a table, I really would much rather use a laptop. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is a more mobile device. Something which is easier to use in hand than its larger 10.1-inch siblings.

With Ice Cream Sandwich having been launched, more and more Android apps will be optimized for 720p screens. It could be the right time for an Android tablet.

Would I buy it? Well no. I do not feel the need for 3G on a tablet. I already have it on my phone. Basically, I would rather not have to maintain a second line. Since I do not appreciate 3G, than things like Apple iPad 2 16GB WiFi only version is still a cheaper option at Php23,990. I also do not need full phone functionality on a tablet, so that score no points we me either.

Second, I do not like being an early adopter. Ice Cream Sandwich has been launched so more and more Android apps will be optimized for 720p screens, but I will have to wait for those. Apple has 100,000 tablet optimized apps now, though they usually cost twice as much as iPhone apps.

So it is a hard choice. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is compelling hardware wise and there are more free apps on the Android Market. It is both a tablet and a phone is that is important for. But for a pure tablet, Apple iPads are still the safer bet. For Php24.5K, I would not want to be an early adopter.

Seems like Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 users almost got no complaints about new firmware updates, because its keep on coming like day after day. Lately, another Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread officially released by Samsung Kies server in Poland and The Netherlands. These new version got the build number of S5830XWKS9 a CSC files (XEO - Poland S5830XEOKP2) and (XEN - Netherlands S5830XENKS1) with a build date of October 15, 2011.

According to users who already tried it says, it does not have much any difference from previous versions, just a few improvement in usability performance, it became more smoother. The Wifi connection become much faster, some new applications are added, just find out the rest by yourself.

Best SMS messaging app for Android
75% of my phone use is attributed to text messaging. So I recently downloaded Handcent and Im liking it a lot. Its a lot better than the bland default messaging application. I really like how customizable it is. My only gripes are that I wish I could change the physical Handcent icon itself and maybe rename it to "Messaging" or something, also wish the reminder notifications had a few more options. Other than that its a great app.

Any other good or better apps out there for text messaging?





I dont know if youve tried ChompSMS, but I like it better than Handcent. I honestly liked the features, design and layout of Handcent better, but it constantly froze my on-screen keyboard, or the application would slowdown, hang or crash. Ive been using Chomp since I removed Handcent, and even though the colorful chat bubbles are #$*^ing annoying, its much more stable.

If you need to reset the shortcuts target, you have to go into application settings and use the "Clear Defaults" button on Handcent. After that, clicking the normal messaging icon should yield a popup asking which app you would like to use. Im pretty sure this should work.

Samsung Galaxy Ace Android 2 3 4 Gingerbread S5830BVJKP2 VIVO Brazil is online

An Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread version for Samsung Galaxy Ace for South America is out now!

This is a branded  FW from Vivo (Brazil Carrier). Some Devs suggested  that this ROM may also work on other carriers but just need to leave the CSC field blank.. and then you get an unbranded version by flashing it using ODIN.. The available languages of this Stock ROM FW are Brazilian, English, Spanish, Portuguese and Korean.

 Other than that you will be having difficulty on rooting your Samsung Galaxy Ace, but others find the methods of combining the  European version 2.3.4 gingerbread  S5830XXKP in order to ROOT the phone
after flashing. The good thing about this method will also fix the GPS problem  from american countries who upgraded and used the 2.3.4 XXKPH european firmware. see yoyigo07 thread here.

Engadget reports that Samsung has sold 3 million of its i9000 Galaxy S II phones in the fifty-five days since its release. This is Samsungs fastest selling phone ever. Given that the Galaxy S II has still to be released in the United States we expect it to continue is brisks sales and go beyond that 10 million Galaxy S phones Samsung sold in 2010.

GSM Arena has a first look at the upcoming Samsung i9103 Galaxy Z. Basically, it will be a cheaper Galaxy S II with a slightly smaller 4.2-inch SLD screen instead of the the 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen on the Galaxy S II. The other specifications are also downgraded as against the Galaxy S II, with the Gaalxy Z a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 AP20H Dual Core processor, 8GB of internal storage and a 5MP camera. When the Galaxy Z is offered here we expect it to be priced at around Php22,000 to Php24,000, based on the pre-order prices in Sweden. This will be bad news for LGs Optimus 2x and HTCs Desire S.

Phone Arena reports that a Windows Phone 7 version of the Galaxy S II, the Samsung SGH i-937  might be underway. Windows Phone 7 on steriods!

Press images emerge for the Samsung Galaxy S III accessories

As you may recall from the official unveiling of the Galaxy S III last month, the new Samsung flagship is set to have a veritable slew of accessories available.

While there are no real surprises here, these official press images will give you a closer look at what sort of extras you can expect to be available for the highly anticipated phone.

The C-Pen is about the size of a standard ballpoint pen and is something akin to the S Pen from the Samsung Galaxy Note. The tip is made of a soft material which is guaranteed not to damage the screen.

The Wi-Fi display hub, also known as the AllShare Cast wireless streaming dongle, hooks up to a display via HDMI port, allowing you to wirelessly stream media from your S III.

The holder and battery charger has the ability to hold your S III (but not dock it) at an angle, while charging an an extra battery. This accessory has the neat benefit being sold with an additional battery for your S III.

The Flip case comes in both white and blue, to match both S III flavors. It replaces the back cover of the 

device, and folds over the screen when not in use.

Finally, the desktop dock allows you to dock the S III (unlike the holder), and has a microUSB port for charging and a 3.5mm audio port, which you can connect to an external audio device.

Notably absent are official shots of the S Pebble MP3 player, which aims to wirelessly sync music files from your device, and the wireless charging kit, which was previously announced as delayed until September.

Smartphone Samsung yang direlease sejak bulan Juni 2013 ini sebenarnya ada dua versi. Perbedaan utama dua varian tersebut adalah pada jaringan yang suport 4G pada seri i9205. Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 yang dijual di Indonesia adalah i9200 yang terbatas pada jaringan 3G dan belum ada LTE nya. Meskipun demikian spek lainnya tetap sama dengan fitur-fitur smartphone kelas atas.

Dengan diagonal layar yang mencapai 6.3 inch, smartphone ini termasuk cukup besar bahkan lebih besar 0.6 inch dibandingkan dengan Galaxy Note 3. Layar lebar ini didukung oleh kemampuan resolusi HD  720 x 1280 pixel dan tipe layar SC-LCD. Spek lain yang tergolong wah adalah memori internalnya yang 16 GB.
